A very trustful source from the game industry mentioned something about MGS4 for me - the game will be called Metal Gear Solid 4 indeed, it will be direct MGS2 sequel and Meryl will play more central role this time.
I dont know if this is the real truth or not, so dont take this info as a confirmed official information.
I hope I will get more info for the release of Version 2.0  |

As long as they do something about her hair and her brain-dead-ness, I wouldn't mind playing as her.
I was going to make
a comment about how she could do things Snake and Raiden couldn't, but
if you think about it enough, I'm sure Raiden could do plenty of the
same things Meryl can do. >_>

Playing as her? She could just be on the codec, they wouldnt go so far as playing as her.
I think the real questions would be Raiden's role, if any, and whoever the playable character is...

Eh, I liked Meryl, so hopefully she does play a part in it. I'd like to

Snake
is most likely not with Meryl anymore. When you make the codec call
after you fight Olga on the Tanker mission, while looking at her.
Snake says: "I've had enough of Tomboys."
But then again when you call him as Plissken right when he falls asleep. He mutters: "Meryl..... gubmmmmm... Liquid!"
I would like to see Meryl kick Raidens ass, while Snake sits back and
laughs. That would be a classic scene if it were to happen.

I highly doubt that, considering some of the information that has been slipping through the cracks at Insert Credit.

Are you talking about that "scene" in Snake Tales, where they had that
little arguement about their past? Snake Tales has nothing to do with
the main story of MGS though... I'm not saying it's not true, as it
most certainly could be possible, but not likely.
I still wonder why they never really mentioned her in MGS2. Probably something to do w/the alternate endings for MGS.

Meryl
was not featured in MGS2 because Kojima felt it more important to focus
on the friendship between Snake and Otacon. However, it is hinted at,
in Sons of Liberty, that Snake and Meryl had a falling out at some
point.

Don't be too sure about that. After all, having two protagonists does seem like an interesting evolutionary
twist to a future Metal Gear title. Given a haircut and some wardrobe
changes, Raiden could easilly be butched up, a la Leon Kennedy.
