Before beginning this article, I would like to extend my congratulations towards the lucky winner of our pre-E3 donation campaign contest.
As their name was picked out in a random drawing, they will be sent the following item from our merchandise archive.
An extremely rare find: Limited Edition Policenauts (for Sega Saturn), signed by none other than Hideo Kojima. Congratulations!
US Airways // Flight from Columbus, OH to Los Angeles, CA
Departure time, 12:45PM (Eastern) -- Arival time, 7:30PM (Pacific)
When you live your entire life in the same area, travelling becomes
more of an adventure and less of a hassle. I had never been out of the
Eastern Time Zone until recently when I made my way out to California
to attend the Electronic Entertainment Expo, or "E3". Traditionally, E3
is an industry only event -- only notarized members of the gaming industry
could attend free of charge, while everyone else is subject to either an
exhorbant admittance fee or neglection. Thanks to the support of several
dedicated and wonderful people however, I was able to attend the Expo and
experience what could best be described as a lucid dream.
// INFILTRATING E3 2006 //
After a long flight, I arrived in Los Angeles and found my way to the
Ritz Milner hotel where I subsequently met up with a few of the staffers
from Gaming Horizon who were kind enough to allow me to stay with them. Though
I had unfortunately missed the initial Konami press conference due to a delayed
flight, the Internet was more than happy to fill me on any lost details. This year,
Kojima Productions aimed to overshadow any competition by flooding the expo floor
with announcement upon announcement.
Six words make up the direction that Kojima Productions plans to head in:
REGALE,.. for HideoBlog ( Link )
A nod to those dedicated fans who follow Mr. Kojima's online journal for
both his personal life and company, the promise was given that HideoBlog would
continue to update regularly in both Japanese (HIDECHAN! Radio) and English (The
Kojima Productions Report).
REFINE,.. the new Kojima Productions ( Link )
The first in a long line of steps towards creating a new order; making Kojima Productions
a more independent entity within Konami Digital Entertainment. The company's website has
been completely reimagined with a more cohesive layout and navigation scheme, product
history information, and developer photographs and biographies. The final goal is to
organize Kojima Productions into a design studio that can focus completely on creative
game development, leaving behind all the business and administrative decision making that
burdens many of today's more popular companies.
As perhaps a prelude to this concept, Kojima Productions International Manager, Ryan Payton
was given the task of compiling a sixty page promotional booklet for this year's E3.
Entitled the "Show Maybe", a large portion of the humor requires the reader to have a
certain familiarity with the Expo, as the booklet takes its inspiration from the E3
newsletter "Show Daily". Even so, much of the information contained within provides a unique
insight into the creative process of Hideo Kojima and his team of developers.
We're pleased to be the first fansite to offer a comprehensive look at this rare booklet
to our readers.

The following pages document not only announcements made by Kojima Productions but elaborate
on my personal experience during the expo as well.
