It is Big Boss!!!
Posted by Otacon on 27 Oct 2004, 20:35 PM

Anonymous source requested to stay hidden and already finished the final version of MGS3: Snake Eater confirmed to MGS: The Unofficial Site that the playable character trough the whole game is only one - Jack or Big Boss in the future games.

This is not a spoiler after all, because as you can see in our poll, most of the fans know that, but the reason to play in prequel during the 1960s and how the game story connects with MGS and MGS2 is still a big mystery for us all.

The Solid Snake fans won't be disappointed either, because they will get few entirely new and interesting Snake Tales - with him and the characters from MGS & MGS2.

Turn the game console off right now!

These words were funny in MGS2: Sons of Liberty, but won't be again in MGS3, where Para-medic will advice us to do this literally. Yes, you hear me right!

In the latest issue of Wired Magazine, in an article about Hideo Kojima and MGS3, Tim Rogers has revealed this game feature - "Wounds heal while your console is turned off. The game uses the PlayStation 2's internal clock to let you recuperate at the rate of a real person. If you still manage to die, "you can just press the Start button and try again," gripes Kojima. His dream is to make a game you can't restart - imagine a disc that self-destructs when you lose. Game over."

Well, unfortunately we'll say that Kojima is very close to his dream...

Two brand new MGS3 boss fight screens
Posted by Otacon on 25 Oct 2004, 17:30 PM

The first one is with Ocelot and the other is against The Pain.

The battle with Ocelot is interesting though. We saw the beginning of it in the TGS 2004 trailer, and now we know it's the second time we fight the guy. In the actual boss battle, Snake must use the same revolver like Ocelot's one (Colt Single Army), cause there's a little abyss between them and he can shoot only from distance.

"Ocelot: Ocelots are proud creatures. ordinarily, they hunt alone! 12 shots this time, I've got 12 shots! Draw!"

And the battle with The Pain... When he's not deep in the water to get away from the bees, Snake should use the Colt Single Army either, cause he cant get near the boss too. This must hurt...

EGM will have first MGS3 review
Posted by finalfantasy7 on 15 Oct 2004, 13:58 PM

This weekend it was announced by Electronic Gaming Magazine (EGM) that they have received a review copy of Metal Gear Solid 3 from Konami. EGM will be the first North American magazine to have a review of Metal Gear Solid 3. This review will be in there January issue that they are calling “13th issue” of 2004. This magazine will have a cover story on MGS3 and will be mailed out to subscribers on November 3. From the early impressions posted by the EGM staff they seem to have thoroughly enjoyed playing it. But it is yet to be known what score MGS3 will receive from these reviewers.

Early comments: “I played the first four hours of his[snake’s] adventure today. I'm writing something up for it right now for our December issue, but suffice to say, it rocks”. – Scooter

“you don't really get a bead on how fast/slow it's running. It never slowed down on me; it was hiccup free. If I had to guess, I'd say 30fps, but, mind you, I only played in outdoor environments. It could very well increase when you go indoors. The radio screen load times have been fixed. Loading from area to area is on par with MGS2. Changing areas does not reset your alert or caution status, so it's more important than ever not to be seen!” – Randy

Konami confirmed the November 17 date
Posted by finalfantasy7 on 15 Oct 2004, 13:31 PM

Official MGS3 US box cover and release date
Posted by Rival Fox on 02 Oct 2004, 17:15 AM

Gamestop’s website has put up a pre-order for MGS3, what is interesting though is that it displays what appears to be the final cover art which has the PlayStation online logo emblazoned on it. Don’t get too excited however, the online tag is most likely there because of the downloadable content for the game e.g. camouflage patterns. Click here for to view the aforementioned image. Also, it looks like the release date is 11/17.
