RESPECT,.. for MGS Digital Graphic Novel / "Bande Dessinee" ( Link )

Kojima Productions, if anything, is innovative. After the commerical success of the comic
book series based on the first Metal Gear Solid, a project began to bring artist Ashley
Wood's reimagining of the series into a more easilly accessible medium. Thus the
comprehensive dossier "Digital Graphic Novel" (or 'Bande Dessinee' in Japan, from the french
phrase for "drawn strips") was born. Using remastered music and sound effects, Metal Gear Solid
Digital Graphic Novel takes illustrated story telling in a new direction by animating the
page work and presenting it in an almost academic fashion. With DGN, not only is the story
of Metal Gear Solid told through quasi-animated cinematics, but various aspects of the mythos
are elaborated through the use of a built in Metal Gear Solid encyclopedia interface.
Everything from character backgrounds and corporate intentions, to timeline listings and weapon
glosseries are included in this package.

Even though this might sound like a dramatic departure from Metal Gear Solid's original
concept -- that of a video game -- DGN does present a challenge as the users must discover
this information for themselves. At any point during the over three hour long presentation of
the story, the action can be paused; allowing the use of a built in scanner provided for the
use of gaining information on practically every last object on the screen. With each object or
character scanned, more information is added to DGN's information matrix. And knowing Kojima's
penchant for secrets and surprises, there will no doubt be plenty of hidden bonuses along the way.

In short, this is the ultimate resource for information on Metal Gear Solid, unmissable
for any true MGS fan.

Metal Gear Solid: Digital Graphic Novel is due for shipment to retailers on June 13th in
North America with an almost simultanious release in Japan. The European release date is slated for December 12th of this year. The currently listed price for DGN is $19.99 USD.
