RETREAT,.. The End of the Expo

I called Ryan Payton early the next morning to discuss scheduling for a second meeting.

At about 1:00 in the afternoon, I met with Mr. Payton outside of Konami's conference room for a
short interview session. However, I won't divulge the specifics just yet. For now, lets move on.

Later that day, I found myself walking into Konami's private conference room to playtest a game
that wasn't available on the showroom floor -- Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops. As I've already
talked about the gameplay, I'll instead talk about the experience.

Having looked up at this exact office for two days now from the Konami showroom floor, it was a
strange feeling to suddenly be standing on the other edge of the glass. In the room were the
previously mentioned PSP development kits as well as the prototype for the Old Snake figurine,
encased in a glass box. Although Mr. Kojima wasn't able to be there, it was still amazing to be
standing amongst the developers and executives of my favourite videogame company.

It was at this point that I experienced what I earlier described as a lucid dream -- nothing seemed
to register at that point. I wasn't really behind the scenes of Kojima Productions, I was just
going about my business as usual. To be honest, it still hasn't clicked.

But seriously, folks -- enough melodrama from me.

As this was my first E3 experience, I have to say that things went decidedly better than I had
initially hoped for. And although this is where I'll be ending the article on my trip, I want to
assure you that the coverage hasn't quite ended. Be sure to check out our video interview with Mr. Ryan Payton, International Manager for Kojima Productions!
